Members of the Clavey River Watershed community joined forces to develop a plan for the Watershed. Working together, they produced a roadmap for future stewardship projects such as campground improvements, streambed and meadow restoration and noxious weed control. These projects will contribute to preserving one of California's most ecologically healthy watersheds for both human and natural communities to enjoy.
The watershed planning effort was led by the Clavey Watershed Council--a collection of stakeholders who collaboratively guided the planning process--with the assistance of the Tuolumne River Trust and input from community members and technical experts. The Watershed Plan builds on the results of the recently released Clavey River Watershed Assessment that provides an expanded scientific foundation for management decisions in the watershed. The Watershed Plan will improve watershed management capacity by rigorously evaluating stewardship projects for future implementation feasibility. Projects chosen for inclusion in the Watershed Plan vary in scope, size and location. This will enable the community to choose from a variety of opportunities to participate in implementing future Watershed stewardship projects, as time and funding allow.
The planning process took over a year to complete. The Clavey River is a component of the Bay Delta Watershed and system, the planning process was generously funded by the CALFED Bay-Delta Watershed Program.
